Privacy Notice

Short version: Career Chats has no user accounts and does not intentionally keep a copy of your conversations. Chat text is sent through our server to OpenAI so an animal guide can answer. Do not type personal or private information.

Who this notice is for

This notice applies to visitors who use the Career Chats experience hosted at createyourwhy.ai. Career Chats is currently intended for learners age 13 and older. Children under 13 should not use the chat feature.

Information handled by the service

• Chat text: the questions you enter and the answers produced during the current page visit.
• Essential session data: a short-lived session cookie used to limit automated or excessive requests. It does not contain the conversation.
• Favorites: if you mark an animal as a favorite, its name is stored only in your browser using local storage.
• Technical logs: our hosting provider may record standard details such as IP address, browser type, requested page, date, time, and error information for security and operation.
• Messages you send us: if you email a report or question, we receive the information in that email.

How chat text is used

We use chat text only to provide the conversation, perform automated safety checks, prevent abuse, diagnose service failures, and protect the site. The Career Chats application does not intentionally write chat text to a database or browser storage. Closing or refreshing the page removes the on-screen conversation unless you chose to download it.

OpenAI processing

Chat text and generated answers are processed through the OpenAI API. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. Unless an approved shorter-retention or Zero Data Retention setting is enabled for the API project, OpenAI’s abuse-monitoring logs may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days. Retention may be longer when legally required. See OpenAI’s API data controls.

When information may be shared

We use service providers needed to operate the website, including the web host and OpenAI. We may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate misuse, or to protect a person’s safety or our legal rights. We do not sell personal information or use chat text for targeted advertising.

Children’s privacy

Career Chats is not presently configured to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the chat feature or send us personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent personal information should contact us so we can investigate and, where possible, delete it.

Your choices

• Do not enter personal information in a chat.
• Clear a displayed conversation with “Start over,” or close the page.
• Clear favorites using your browser’s site-data controls.
• Ask about access, correction, or deletion of information you emailed to us. We may need to verify the request.

Security and retention

We use encrypted connections, server-side API credentials, input and output safety checks, request limits, and limited data collection. No online system is perfectly secure. Technical logs and support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, operation, legal obligations, and responding to the request.

We may update this notice when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
